Anaesthesia Deaths

An aesthetic is an instrument that brings about insensitivity to pain. Aesthetics are widely used for surgeries and other medical procedures.

There can however be side affects to an anaesthetist using an aesthetic incorrectly or with out proper training. Some complications related to Anaesthesia  are as follows:

  • Brain damage resulting from inadequate oxygen or excessive aesthetic gas,
  • Failure to intubate properly
    • Intubation into oesophagus instead of wind pipe
  • Termination of anaesthetic gas flow - resulting in patients regaining full feeling during surgery.

Unfortunately anaesthetists often fail to properly examine patients before administering anaesthetic or to properly question the patient concerning allergies, heart conditions or familial problems with anaesthesia.

Notwithstanding the availability of brain activity monitors at reasonable cost, many anaesthetists do not utilise this aesthetic device resulting sometimes in patients waking up during surgery but being unable to open their eyes and communicate regarding agonising pain whilst being operated on.
