Prior to the enactment of the PAIA (Promotion to Access of Information Act) a patient was not entitled to obtain copies of medical and hospital records. Â Since the Promulgation of that act, a patient is entitled to all medical and hospital records relating to such patient and the hospital and the doctor is obliged to retain such records for six years. In the case of minors such records must be retained until the patient has reached the age of 18 plus an additional 3 years thereafter. The hospital and/or doctor may charge a reasonable fee for the photocopying of such documents. Â If you are a victim of medical negligence or would like to get Ronald Bobroff & Partners Inc to assist you with a medical negligence claim please contact us or call us on 011 880-6781 or on our 24hour toll free number 0860 100 184.
